1993 Boomerang Book Club
Updated On: January 27, 2015
Description: After the demise of Club Pro set (see Club Pro Set Timeline), a similar concept was created. Pro Set began a new series of cards named 'Boomerang Book Club.' Some standards set by their predecessors were carried over to this new product. The sets are comprised of 9 or 15 cards, use full-bleed fronts, and have orange backs. The copyrights read "1993 Boomerang Book Club." The differences include the location of the position of the logos on the fronts and the shape and color of the bars. The bars are now translucent and the logos have been moved to the right side of the card. On the backs, the logos have been moved to the top right and the border texture has been changed to a solid purple color. There are 5 sets known to exist. Of these, there are no known variations. Further below is a list ready for you to use. If you find any new sets or variations, please report back!

Note: All the sets with a number listed are confirmed to exist and are in my possession. The greyed out boxes do NOT exist.
Burnt Red = Sealed Pack
Furthermore: These cards were produced in collaboration with an UNKNOWN entity. The common theory is that they were made for Australian school children. I believe this to be false (see Additional Information). I have not been able to find anything further.
Additional Information: When I learned these sets included "The Civil War" (The United States Civil War), it raised a red flag about them being made for Australian School children. So while searching the Web for information, Bravewriter.com kept popping up. They have a program called "Boomerang Book Club!" Bingo! Or so I thought. Unfortunately, they were not the sponsors. I contacted Julie Bogart from the website and she debunked that theory.
Theories: These sets might have been "leftover" topics from the Club Pro Set concept. Someone involved with the development might have wanted to keep it alive and commissioned a new print run (Lud Denny?). Also, I believe that Boomerang Book Club cards were never finished. Whomever commissioned them never actually got them to their final destination. Reason: They are usually found sealed! Young children would most assuredly open the packs. Also, no bronze sets have ever shown up in someone's collection or for sale! This would imply that the print run was never finished. And yes, this was the year that Pro Set was having major financial difficulties.
Notes: There is no reason in my mind for more of these sets to exist, but if you have any new information, please contact me at 1990proset at Gmail dot com.
